Aloha! Come learn the basic movements of hula and get to know a bit of Hawaiian culture as you sway your hips. In this class, you will be taught proper hip movement, and arm placement as well as a basic hula ‘auana (contemporary hula). A pā’ū skirt or sarong is recommended.
What is Hula?
Hula engages the hips, arms, and hands in a graceful, gentle manner which reflect the chants and songs they accompany. Costumes add to the meaning of the songs and usually involve a pā’ū skirt or a holokū (Hawaiian formal gown) and flowers strung or woven around the neck and head.
There may be performance opportunities. If you would like to perform, please contact us at haamanapolynesiandance@gmail.com to receive more information.
