Aloha! Your keiki will learn the basic movements and arm positions of the hula. They will also learn a Hawaiian children’s song to learn more about the language and culture of Hawaii. A pā’ū skirt or sarong is recommended.
At the end of the quarter, we will have a small Hula Festival for your little hula dancer to show what they’ve learned. There is a costume fee of $50.00 which will consist of a custom pā’ū skirt, top, headpiece, and lei. More information will be sent via email once your child is signed up for the class.
What is Hula?
Hula engages the hips, arms, and hands in a graceful, gentle manner which reflect the chants and songs they accompany. Costumes add to the meaning of the songs and usually involve a pā’ū skirt or a holokū (Hawaiian formal gown) and flowers strung or woven around the neck and head.
